Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)

Intrauterine insemination (IUI) involves using a small catheter to place sperm that have been prepared via a sperm wash, up beyond the cervix into a woman’s uterus. This process helps to increase the probability of fertilization, by increasing the number of motile sperm that reach the uterus and fallopian tubes.

IUI has been shown to offset mild male factor infertility and to improve the chance of pregnancy in cases of unexplained infertility. It is also frequently used in combination with ovulation induction to maximize the benefits of both methods.

Please note: Most patients do not find the treatment painful and resume normal activity immediately after the insemination procedure.
